Eszter Salamon’s short film Sommerspiele (Summer Games but also Summer Olympics), which premiered at Akademie der Künste (Berlin), proposes a reframing of the heritage of Jewish German dancer Valeska Gert into a National Socialist architecture. Performed by herself in the empty spaces, the piece explores choreographically, through film and performance, historical sites which staged collective traumas and memories, through a grotesque body.
